The 2025 Chile bifiPV Workshop will be hosted on January 7-9th of 2025. This workshop will explore desert bifacial PV, as well as new technological and industry status of this technology.

Chairs welcome message

Dear bifiPV colleagues:

We are delighted to welcome you to bifiPV2025, which will be held in the beautiful city of Antofagasta, Chile. This year, there has been a marked evolution of bifacial technologies, leading them to become the standard for the implementation of photovoltaic plants.

Despite this marked development of bifacial technologies, there are still major challenges in the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic plants that use them. This is more significant in areas of high radiation, high presence of ultraviolet (UV), large temperature oscillations throughout the day, and significant variations during the day in relative humidity. These conditions are mainly present in desert climates, such as the Atacama Desert.

This first workshop on bifacial technologies in desert conditions, where the environmental conditions listed above are mentioned, will be a great opportunity for all attendees to explore and discuss what are the real effects of such climatic conditions on the performance of this technology, and what is being done to take better advantage of the climatic conditions of deserts, places with great potential for the exploitation of solar photovoltaic energy.

ATAMOSTEC is a pioneer in the study of the effect that environmental conditions have on the performance of bifacial technologies. Join us in Antofagasta to interact with industry leaders, share ideas and glimpse the future of bifacial technologies: copper integration in photovoltaic modules, reduction of consumption of scarce materials (such as silver and indium), and performance of these new module proposals in demanding conditions. We look forward to your participation and an inspiring and productive workshop.

Kind regards,
